A special service of Thanksgiving and Celebration was held at the Lutheran Church of St. John on August 13, 2003 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Pastor Harold Bender's Ordination into the ministry.  Officiating at the service was Rev. Marlin Rempfer of    St.James Lutheran Church, Quincy  and the Guest Preacher was Rev. Mike Gudgel of Faith Lutheran Church of Oak Lawn, IL. Rev. Gudgel served his vicarage at The Lutheran Church of St. John under Pastor Bender in 1999-2000.  A reception was held in the fellowship hall after the service.
